Tell me...
I have another "People say stupid things" post for you. I'm sure you'll remember my troubles with my dentist (if not, read here). I'm thinking I'm going to create a new blog JUST for these types of posts....or get another dentist. Will have to mull those two thoughts over for a bit.This story isn't as good as past ones, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.
Stupid Dentist: "Luiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigilover!!" *hug*double kiss* (no, I'm not kidding...she did that)
Luigilover: "Hi there Dr. Stupid."
SD: "Open up and lets take a look"
LL: "Ok"
SD: "Hum. Tell me something..."
LL: *mumble*
SD: "Why don't you want straight teeth?"
LL: *huh?*
SD: "Do you have something against straight teeth?"
LL: *jerk head to the side to defend myself and get her grimy fingers out of my mouth* "No! But braces are very expensive!"
SD: "Oh. That explains it."
What the frig did she mean by that!? Honestly.
Anyhow. I'm looking into it more seriously...but I'm afraid. I heard it can cause an insufferable amount of pain; and, lets face it. I'm a wussy. Will continue to think about it.

The doctor is trying to upsell you....She is making you feel bad about yourself and hopefully make a sale...Get a new dentist--she sucks!
This story fits right in with your flute story. You should not have to take this crap from anyone, especially not someone who you are paying. Many dentists out there are friendlier and do not make you feel like a degenerate while they take your money. Get a new dentist!
Can't tell you about your dentist, but braces as an adult are well worth it. I had 'em from ages 32-34 and, no, they're not torture devices. They're a little bit of a pain in the ass 'cause they trap food, but so carry around a toothbrush. Go for it. You'll love the end result.
